Copper is a naturally occurring element, with the number 29 and the abbreviation Cu on the periodic table. It's function in the body is the assist in the formation of red blood cells and the absorption of iron,  which help keep blood vessels, nerves the immune system and bones healthy.

It can be found in solid form, a metallic mass that forms when hot, metal-bearing fluids percolate up through Earth's crust. Copper also forms with or into many other minerals including: azurite, malachite, chalcocite, acantite, chalcopyrite and bornite.  Most copper comes from chalcopyrite.

The world’s leading producer of copper is Chile, followed by the U.S and Peru. Other major copper producing regions include the United States  (primarily Arizona, Utah and New Mexico), Peru, Australia, Canada, China, Mexico, Russia and Indonesia.
